Quite correct. A random spotcheck quickly turned up the site's coverage of Meera Jasmine, where the controversies section is essentially copied word-for-word from her Wikipedia bio. There's no reason to believe that starsunfolded, like so many celebrity "journalism" sites, meets our standards for reliable sourcing, and for sourcing BLPs in particular.

Firstly, copying from WP:DOB: If there is a situation in which multiple different independent reliable sources state differing years or dates of birth in conflict, consensus has been found to include all birth dates/years for which a reliable source exists, clearly noting discrepancies. There are of course plenty of independent reliable sources for 1995: India Today: [3][4] (looks to be reliable), Indian Express: [5] (reliable per entry at RSP), Times Now News: [6][7] (looks to be reliable) NewsTrack: [8] (not sure) AsiaNewserA: [9] (not sure), Bollywood Life: [10] (not sure, looks fairly gossipy), Zoom Tv Entertainment: [11] (also gossipy), and ABP News: [12] (not sure, probably reliable).

Regarding other years: in this interview, also from ABP News: [13], it sounds like she says that she's 23. That article was last updated in March 2021, but doesn't say when it was published. If we assume it was shot around the same time, that would make her born in 1997 (not 1998, I have no idea where you got that from; I was just taking your word for it before). This, however, fails the "independent" part, and requires some assumptions to be made. Regarding sources that put it at 1998, like is being claimed, all I've found is that piece from India.com you quoted: [14]. I really don't think this is a reliable source, especially since India.com also said she was born in 1995 on the same day: [15]. What I think happened there, is that this piece was published yesterday, while her Wikipedia page still said 1998 because of the content dispute, and so they just copied it from that. Date of birth dispute

This page and it's associate talk page has been part of several unfutile discussions in past and take a lot on this article's history this is pretty much evident from the same. The major issue of disruption is the year which is either 1995 or 1998. Since she has been around from last 8 years as her first serial was in 2013 it seems highly unlikely that she is still only 23. @Packer&Tracker I think we should include both the year of birth per WP:DOB; If there is a situation in which multiple different independent reliable sources state differing years or dates of birth in conflict, consensus has been found to include all birth dates/years for which a reliable source exists, clearly noting discrepancies. In this situation, editors must not include only one date/year which they consider "most likely". In this situation, editors must not include merely a single date from one of two or more reliable sources. Original research must not be used to extrapolate the date of birth. @Packer&Tracker We have one source for 1998 [1] so it not original research. But the same source in another article published in 2021 stated that she turned 26 see [2]. we have to wait for for some another reliable sources that directly hints towards her date of birth as 1998. Even I was confused earlier regarding her age that if she's 1995 born or 1998 born. Now I know she's 1998 born but still we've to wait for more reference. Similarly like I'm waiting for a reliable reference Paras Kalnawat aka Samar Shah from Anupamaa that directly hints towards his year of birth as 1996 even after being it's confirmed by himself that his DOB is 9 November,1996(though there is no conflict regarding his birth year as every site declares it as 1996 and he himself uploaded his age on his instagram post and stories last year also and this year also on his birthday that he turned 24 last year and 25 this year) . We can add birth date if it's given in reliable resource. But for birth year more reliable references are needed. I think wikipedia administrators should include Koimoi in the reliable sources list now. As it always provides confirmed news related to shows and actors. The webpages from ABP have no credited author, simply repeat instagram or twitter posts and show little signs of editorial judgement. Now this is an issue with almost all entertainment news, but this India Today post and this Amar Ujala post at least have a credited author, somewhat more substantial content and both say 1995. Since the only page claiming a different year is ABP and ABP contradicts itself in another, it should be ignored as unreliable.

We should go with 1995; especially if, as teahouse post claimed, the subject herself says so on youtube. For statements of fact like DoB, WP:PRIMARY sources can even take priority over entertainment news. Hemanthah (talk) 10:30, 17 December 2021 (UTC)

Pri2000 Please don't simply question the reliablity and quality of Hindustan Times it is one of the reputed Indian paper of all time so is Zee News but Zee's legacy isn't the same anymore as for Joshi's birth year we have reliable sources from India Today & Indian Express two highly reliable media outlets. I doubt highly that she is 1998 born nobody in their right sense of mind will say that she was 14-15 in her debut show. Paras has nothing to do on this talk page anyway. @Packer&Tracker:that's why I said wait for further articles which will directly hint towards her DOB as 1995 or 1998. Hindustan Times is one of the most reliable resource I agree. But Shivi's DOB is most disputed content among all articles. For Paras I just mentioned that though there's no dispute for his birth year being 1996 but still I can't add it till the reliable resource hint it towards 1996. And what you said about Shivi is correct. While in interview she says it 1998. But I also feel how can someone look such a grown up person at 14-15. However you might have noticed that many people looks elder than their age. Sometimes by makeup sometimes by reality. For example if you've seen Anupamaa there actress Anagha Bhosale who plays the role of Nandini is shown elder than Samar's character. That's why many people think her to be elder than Paras. However in reality it's opposite. Anagha is 2000 born. Similarly newest entry Aneri is 1994 born but looks younger than Paras. And Rupali mam looks elder than Sudhanshu sir Even after being younger than him. And in TMKOC also Madhavi aka Sonalika Joshi mam is elder than Mandar sir aka Bhide but shown as his wife because she looks younger than him. So it might be a possibility that she started career at young age. But still I'm also confused for Shivi's agen That's why I feel we should wait for some more articles. @Pri2000, newspapers are limited by space and publishers are forced to exercise some editorial judgement about what to carry. On the other hand, News websites, not constrained by space limitations, tend to carry anything that might get a click.

I did some history digging and the oldest source used to support 1995 was starsunfolded. It is patently unreliable as it carried nonsense dates till at least early 2018. 1998 was supported by a pinkvilla article from 2018. The India Today & Amar Ujala articles I quoted above are all from 2020 and there is high likelihood of them being influenced by Wikipedia (see WP:CIRCULAR) as it carried 1995 as a possible date for long periods since 2019.

I've found this series of PTI posts, all of which contradict 1995, carried by Hindustan Times in 2017 (19-year-old television actor Shivangi Joshi), Indian Express in 2018 (20-year-old television actress Shivangi Joshi). This DNA article (Shivangi Joshi (Naira): 19) from 2016 also rules out 1995. The youtube interview where she specifically disputes wikipedia entry and says she's 23 is, while being a WP:PRIMARY source, perfectly suitable for facts like DoB.

Given these, I apologize for prematurely jumping to conclusions. All the recent sources saying 1995 are weak and possibly were picked from Wikipedia itself. Since there are older WP:RS sources also contradicting a 1995 birth and the subject herself has disputed it, I am certain that 1995 cannot be retained.
